Domestic Violence - UK Perspective

Although this talk was given in 2001 it presents the issues in a clear and cogent light and it is noteworthy that 6 years on little has changed as this quote from the talk illustrates.

"Previous domestic assault is often a clear indication of subsequent domestic assault. Statistics are available in the United Kingdom, which indicate that 35 % of households in which Domestic Violence occurs have a second incident within 5/6 weeks of the first. It is believed that minor violence maybe an indicator underlying the escalation to major violence."

Answers? - early support, early intervention, greater awarness and a reduction in the level of social tolerance of abuse.
